A sad day for little E

The end of the looong Hair.

So needless to say, Everett was not quite
thrilled with the fact that Dad,
was making him get his hair cut.
He had been growing it out forever,
and loved it. Sort of going for the Luke Sky Walker hair. Finally, Dad had enough an ordered a flat top. Of course he was busy with work so I managed to get him in the car. We trucked down to Raul the barber. We asked for the flat top. Raul knows exactly how to do those since he has been in business since 1950. So without further ado the hair came off but not without lots of faces and grumbling. The good news is that was about a month ago and it is already growing out. He looked very cute and he impressed the marine that was in there for his weekly trim. No matter what Everett will always look adorable. What little boy wouldn't with a ca-lick like his.

My Dirty Soccer Mom Van

1987 Ford E-250 Quadravan 4x4
Alright so I have to admit that sharing with the rest of the world that drive a car only 12years younger than I is a little crazy. My Husband believes that it is somewhat of a classic, and it doesn't help that all the men want to take it to Pismo. Not my first choice or hec, even my eighth It has it's benefits though, Lets talk about the space, space to store all the junk 3 children can possibly bring in a day.

So I begin with the back of the van, where I would like everything to be, but that doesn't always work. The reason it doesn't work is because the back of the van is full, always. Now we have the pine bedding for the baby chicks. The layer crumble feed, for the older chickens. A Home Goods bag full of grocery bags that I never remember to reuse. Behind that, because there is so much room, is the kids sparring gear for karate. Helmets that the kids used.....where? A bag to go to the goodwill (that's been screaming, donate me this century), and a whole pile of junk, that is not even mine.... Yes that's right.. I offered to take my friends stuff to donate to the dance studio. Has it left the car? Nope.

The Back seat. Probably the least cluttered only because it is the furthest away from me, the driver. These items here were accumulated today, one day and this is what a mom has to deal with. Everyone's sweatshirt, files for 4-H. Boyscout paperwork to be memorized and an in complete math assignment. Did I mention the older your kids get, not only do they wear more clothes, they leave more clothes. Just when I thought they should be big enough to carry things, they aren't capable of remembering.

The items in this photo are what is on the floor in front of this seat. A new trash can recently purchased, a yoga mat with hopeful intentions.A Two bags of Target items( a staple in our home), a book of some sort, 1 green towel, which I can not tell you why or when it appeared in this vehicle. The floor, don't ask it's like another room to have to vacuum, seriously. If it was covered I wouldn't have to see all the dirt and......stuff from the kids shoes. Which reminds me. My husband was in the van the other day sitting in the back, yes the back. He said this van is a pig sty. He also made some comment about how I shouldn't let the kids eat in the car. Ha ha ha, like that is going to happen, right ladies? Yeah right, life is challenging enough without having hungry kids on top of that.
Sorry babe, but I have to win this one.

So we move to the front of the bus, where the pilot(me). Has to have everything on hand, right? A busy mom, always feeds her kids even if she has to let them eat in the car. The aftermath is beautiful, and why is it that mom always gets handed the trash? Like I am the trash can or something. There is not a thing you need, that I do not have in this mess. I may have to dig, but chances are pretty good that it's in there. So all in all this Van is the real deal, don't be jealous ladies, you know you want one. It's the latest fashion. Name your price......

1940's Mystery Revealed

The weekend, that kept going. This was a doozie. While traveling up to my sister Dana's house, we stopped to buy a truck. Not just any truck a Chevy truck?!?! What..... This is to weird for words I mean Big Everett cannot stand Chevrolet. okay weirder things have happened but this one is up there on true conversion or is it settling down? Growing older I think is what we call it, anyways he bought it. We continued on our journey up to Jackson 4 hours after we left, ugh.

We finally arrived to begin a makeover on three beautiful girls to make them appear as if they were straight out of the 40's. Accomplished, and so the party began, but not before the 4 boy cousins were made to look as if they had been beat up while playing croquet in the parlor?!?
Girls ecstatically investigated the crime scene where the boys lie. Off they were to solve the crime. Several clues later and many pieces of evidence it was revealed that the culprits were Miss Sunny Goldson and Miss Peachy Apricotta. Samantha, being Miss Sonny Goldson, not exactly thrilled she was a criminal was given a consolation prize before her and her accomplice were escorted to the local jail.
Did I mention the mystery dinner where Everett was the head waiter, or the treasure hunt. No I did not but that I will leave for another day. Fun was had by all with the hopes that we can recreate this fun for Samantha's 10th. Fond memories of doing this at my 10th birthday years and years ago!
The trip was rounded off by a long trip home with a detour to Oakdale and sliding into home to make salsa for three hours, with the 4-H food preservation group. Followed by a trip downtown to the 4-H meeting, that ended at 8pm. Yes we are tired and I need sleep.

Everett gets a special truck

Everett's new rig,

Yes it is true, Everett the III, has just gotten his truck. No he can't drive it yet. He and Daddy will be working on it together. It was, Big Evevertt's Great Grandfathers truck and now it will be little E's.
He and Daddy are very excited to begin working on it and have already started.

Sammi comppletes her first year

This last Sunday, Samantha completed her first year of 4-H......
She was thrilled, and we were thrilled for her. Nervousness took over before she went on stage. She recieved her first year stripe and pin. Yeah Sammi way to go! This year: cooking, food preservation, and arts. Next year poultry and all of the above.

Patience

May I first say that school starts to early. When you are part of a charter school you do not have the luxury of choosing when to start. What happened to post labor day? Hello, are we not allowed to have a summer. It seems like the weather is confused as well, it feels cold in the morning and at night. I'm confused. Gone are the days when kids were kids, eihh yih yih!
Oh well, enough said.
We started. So far so good, no gorry details to share with all you moms who think I am crazy. Yes there are those times I lose it and wonder why, why did I choose this path. Don't worry obviously I am human. Everett cries and whines and wonders why the lines on the paper are not perfect and that his work looks terrible. Oh boy, what is a mom to do? I try to reason of course but that does not work out so i go on to telling him he must stop ahhhhh!
Katie prays tonight and asks God, "make daddy's hands strong again so he can build houses again for people." How sweet she doesn't understand nobody can afford to build a house right now, but she knows Daddy needs work.
I love my kids so very much!!!!!!! At the end of the day, I tuck them in to bed, and beg them to sleep. Prayers and kisses, nothing beats it, nothing. Thank you Lord for our sweet children......

HAPPY EASTER!

We took this while waiting for the Easter bunny to hide the rest of the eggs. The rascals had waited and waited, but hey that's the Hatch tradition. Make them wait until they can't stand it any longer, and then they were off! Oh what fun they had, oh sure there was the big ones finding the easy ones leaving none for the small one. Then there was the oldest (Sam) crying cause the others got more than her (the competitive one), but all in all it was just fun. After all we do know that eggs have nothing to do with the Lord's Resurrection.
